1833 N-3 R1 MS65. Choice highly lustrous bluish steel and chocolate with generous amounts of faded mint color covering the protected areas on both sides. A microscopic tick on the cheek right of the upper lip is the only mark, and it is barely visible with the aid of a strong glass. Nicely struck MDS with microscopic die flowlines covering the fields. All the stars show their radial lines. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS65 choice and tied for CC#1, his photo #20621. A truly beautiful cent. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS66BN (PCGS label included, and it shows the attribution and Naftzger provenance). Now housed in a PCGS MS66 BN holder. (PCGS # 37024).
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
