C. Coelius Caldus, moneyer. AR Denarius minted at Rome, 51 BC. Bare head right of C. Coelius Caldus (consul 94 BC); below chin, boar standard; to left, vexillum inscribed HIS. Reverse: Figure seated on lectisternium between two trophies. Sear 404; Coelia 7; Cr. 437/2a; Syd. 894. Tiny banker's mark below ear. Toned. Bold. Very Fine.

This reverse type refers to the office of Epulo Jovis, which was held by the moneyer's father.
