Q. Pompeius Rufus, moneyer. AR Denarius minted at Rome, 54 BC. Curule chair between arrow and laurel branch. Reverse: Curule chair between lituus and wreath. Sear 400; Pompeia 5; Cr. 434/2; Syd. 909. Struck a bit softly. Lustrous with light toning. Extremely Fine.

Pompeius Rufus was the grandson of both the dictator Sulla and Q. Pompeius Rufus, Sulla's consular colleague in 88 BC. This type honors their consulship and their careers.
