One of the sons of the triumvir, Publius Crassus served under Caesar in Gaul, where he distinguished himself in Armorica and Aquitania. When he returned to Rome around 55 BC, he brought with him a cavalry of a thousand Gallic troops, whose presence perhaps had some impact on the consular elections; his father and Pompey Magnus were elected to their second joint consulship. Publius would, with his cavalry, join his father in the Parthian campaign, and die with him at Carrhae.
