Lot 1992

1853-C. NGC graded MS-60. Housed in an Old Holder. Only 65,571 struck. Lightly toned with some obverse marks. Soft, serene luster glints off the frosty surfaces of this attractively toned Quarter Eagle from the mint at Charlotte, North Carolina. A blend of shades can be seen on both sides. The strike is better than the usual somewhat spongy look of these on the reverse, though the design elements are not as crisp as would be found on a P-mint issue. Mintmark, while plainly visible, is weak.Pop 7; 19 finer (PCGS # 8254) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $5,060
