Lot 19

1824/2 N-1 R1 Overdate 4 over 2 AU50+. Lustrous light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. The only marks, and they are not at all significant, are a pair of small spots of darker toning right of the date, another nestled against the left side of star 7, and a splash of chocolate toning at F-A. Nicely struck E-MDS, prior to any rim crumbling on the left side of the obverse. The overdate feature is bold. Called AU50+ in the Noyes census, his photo #62013. A very nice example of this popular overdate variety. Now housed in a PCGS MS63 BN holder. (PCGS # 36778).
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
Ex Jim McGuigan 4/2002, The Northwest Collection.

Realized $16,100
