Lot 18

1823 Private Restrike MS65. Very attractive iridescent bluish steel and light chocolate brown with slightly faded original red covering 10-15% of both sides. Virtually flawless, a bit of slightly darker toning on star 3 the best way to identify this piece. Late die state with two die cracks on each side plus the usual strong rim cud break from star 4 to star 7. The fields display ample prooflike surface and the eye appeal is outstanding. Noyes photo #21674. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS66BN (PCGS label included, and it shows the Naftzger provenance). Now housed in a PCGS MS66 BN holder. (PCGS # 81627).
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
Ex Bowers & Ruddy 11/12/84:51-Herman Halpern, Stack's 3/16/88:390, The Northwest Collection.

Realized $2,760
