Abrecht Dürer. The Patron Saints of Austria. Woodcut, 1515, Bartsch 116, 7 1/8 x 14½ in. Fine, clear impression with titles and added text. Originally the block contained only six saints: Quirinus, Maximilian, Florian, Severinus, Coloman and Leopold. The two saints at right, Otto and Poppo, were probably added in 1517 by Dürer's student, Hans Springinklee. Ther are a couple of small spots at top margin. Matted and framed to an overall size of 16½ x 22½ in. Not examined out of frame.
