John Marshall Gamble. 16 ¾ x 10 in. oil on canvas in a 22 x 16 in. fancy gilded frame depicting a vase on its side with grapes.

Influenced by French Impressionist Claude Monet, Gamble was a well-respected and sought after California painter whose career spanned 72 years.

Starting in San Francisco, he also trained in Paris, eventually moved to Santa Barbara (from San Francisco after The Big Fire) in 1906, where he lived until his death in 1957.
