Lot 309

Aviation, 1949, Deke Slayton's University of Minnesota Aeronautical Engineering Course Reports. Lot of two different including one written on March 11, 1949 for AERO 130 entitled "The Preliminary Design of a High Speed Midget Racer for the 190cu. in. Race" (he got a "B") and one written on June 1, 1949 for AERO 131 entitled: "Determination of Forces Acting on a Midget Racer Wing" (ungraded). Both reports are hand-signed and include hand-drawn graphs, charts and diagrams. ALSO included is a "SPECIAL COMMENDATION" from the University of Minnesota dated June 4, 1974 (before ASTP) extolling Deke's accomplishments over the prior 20 years since his graduation from the University. All are somewhat battered, but are a fascinating glimpse into the young man who achieved so much in his chosen career.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
Ex. the astronaut Donald K. "Deke" Slayton Family collection.

Realized $228
