[Likelike] Hawaiian Royal Princess (1851-1887) Miriam Kapili Kekauluohi Likelike was younger sister of the last two reigning monarchs of Hawaii-- King Kalakaua and Queen Liliuokalani--and mother to Princess Kaiulani, the heir apparent. Her father was High Chief Kepaakea and her mother was Big Island Chiefess Analea Keohokalole. She married Scottish merchant Archibald Scott Cleghorn in 1870 and her only child, Victoria Kaiulani, was born in 1875. Likelike was a musician and composer. In 1874, when her brother became king, she was titled Princess Likelike and named governess of Oahu. She died from unknown causes at the age of 36.

Carte de visit, 4 x 2½ in., with imprint of M. Dickson, Honolulu on the verso. A seated portrait, staring slightly to her right. Minor scuff marks in upper background, else fine.
