Lot 56

1795 C-6a R2 Without Pole, Thin Planchet AG3. Struck over Talbot Allum & Lee Cent. Sharpness VG7 but there are some strong rim dents on both sides and the reverse is rough from patches of shallow pitting. No verdigris. The rim dents over LIBE have been smoothed down a bit, and the work displays a lack of skill. Partly glossy chocolate brown and olive, the highpoints a slightly lighter shade of brown. The date is weak but complete and easily readable and the legends are strong where not affected by the pitting. Struck over a cut-down Talbot Allum & Lee Cent with strong undertype (ship rigging) from the host cent at the top of the reverse. Weight 84.1 grains.
Estimated Value $100-UP.

Realized $184
