1816 N-8 R3 EF40+. Choice glossy dark steel brown and chocolate with frosty flowline luster covering the fields and protected areas on both sides. Very nice for the grade, just a few tiny ticks from flawless. The best identifying mark is a small, dull rim nick at the first S in STATES. Close to EF45. LDS with thin but clear rim cud breaks at stars 9-10 and 11-12 plus a weaker rim cud at stars 3-4. The reverse is rotated 30 degrees CCW. Called EF45 and CC#12 in the Noyes census, his photo #59554. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU55 (NGC label included, #308040-002, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance).
