Lot 2073

1872 Dollar Round Indian. BG-1207 Rarity 4. NGC graded MS-63 PL. Well struck and choice. One of the most attractive, famous, and desirable Cal Gold Round Dollars with Indian head. It is made by an unknown manufacturer. Breen-Gillio (among others) suggest Henrici & Brand as a possibility. The obverse has a Close Date 1872 set midway between rim and bust. In this it differs from BG-1206 which has the date low. It employs a reverse earlier used on BG-1206 with a "spur" back from the top of C of CALIFORNIA. Pop 2; 1 finer in 65.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.

Realized $3,450
