Lot 200

1796 S-116 R5- Draped Bust VG10. Sharpness VF25 but covered with uniform very fine porosity. No verdigris and the only marks are a misplaced planchet cutter impression at the rim before the chin and at the opposing area over ERI in AMERICA. This defect was caused at the mint, of course, but it still catches your eye. Slightly glossy steel and chocolate brown. Nicely struck LDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks on the obverse. A decent example of a very tough variety in spite of the mint error.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Realized $1,610
