Lot 1885

1873. Open 3. PCGS graded MS-63 PQ. CAC Approved. A nice untoned coin. Collectors are often content with an average baggy BU Type 2 Double Eagle and the 1873 open '3' variety is readily available. In most cases the grades tend to stop at MS61-62 although some upper Mint State examples are also found with a great deal of looking.

If you are a collector who needs a choice Type Two twenty, one with eye appeal, the 1873 Open 3 offered here is your coin. No beating about the bush, this is a dandy MS63. A flaming yellow gold piece with notable luster throughout. Pop 128; 8 finer, 2 in 63+, 5 in 64, 1 in 65 (PCGS # 8967) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.
The William H & Beuelaress K. Helem Collection.

Realized $18,400
