Lot 1879

1861. PCGS graded AU-58 PQ. CAC Approved. Only 7,125 examples are estimated to have survived. A nice frosty coin. This Choice AU representative is one of the finer examples of the 1861 issue available today. The pale reddish-gold fields show strong, distinctly surface luster that is largely unaffected by the coin's minor wear. Both sides show better-than-average detail, and on the obverse, even the often-weak left stars have visible lines and centers. They are quite bold. Any abrasions are light and inconsequential. Hence, the overall eye appeal is better than the grade might suggest, as the coin shows fewer marks than usual on the portrait (PCGS # 8932) .
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,100.

Realized $4,140
