Lot 1071

1851-D. PCGS graded EF-45. Well struck with a hint of light golden toning. Only 9,882 minted of which only 175 examples are estimated to have survived. For the collector desiring a nice high grade circulated Dahlonega Mint gold dollar for his or her type set, this is an ideal candidate. As with all coinage, however, it is important to remember that mintage figures tell only part of the story. While we suggest that a mintage of under 10,000 coins is rather high for these issues, this mintage would suggest a major rarity if in the context of Philadelphia Mint gold dollars of this same design. Pop 11; 104 finer (PCGS # 7515) .
Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,400.
The William H & Beuelaress K. Helem Collection.

Realized $2,070
