Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 65

Lot 2030

1850-C. Weak C. NGC graded MS-60. Frosty and lightly toned. This scarce, lustrous 1850-C half eagle is a wonderful example of a mid-19th century rarity with frosty greenish gold luster. Very sharply struck with full obverse and reverse design definition. Only the typical (meaning, not heavy or noticeable) very minor abrasions and hairlines are noted. From a mintage of 63,591 coins, however, only six to eight examples may be all that have survived in Mint State. A definite showpiece for the Charlotte Mint collector and specialist. Pop 1; 3 finer in 61 (PCGS # 98244) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.

Realized $4,140
