Sale 65

Lot 1922

1903. NGC graded MS-68. Boldly struck and untoned. An immaculate gem that is virtually perfect! Yearly mintage figures for the Liberty quarter eagle failed to top 1 million coins from 1862 through the end of the series in 1907. The 1895 (6,119 pieces produced) is generally regarded as the last of the rare dates (although the 1896-1907 issues are scarce to one degree or another in the finer Mint State grades). A resplendent coin, both sides of which show intense luster with a frosty sheen that becomes modest brightness in the fields at direct angles. Bold sharp striking detail is seen throughout, with not a single area revealing an abrasion of note. Will easily eclipse any other coin you put in your set of the finest 19th century gold Type coins. Pop 5; none finer (PCGS # 7855) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.

Realized $13,800
