Sale 65

Lot 1883

1862. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo CAC Approved. A stunning deep cameo specimen with lovely delicate golden toning. Only 35 Proofs struck. The strike is bold on this deep cameo Indian gold dollar, with a full feather veins and puffs and a strong LIBERTY on the headband. (A touch of softness often shows at the tops of a couple of headdress feathers and the lowest hair curl, but this isn’t the case here.) Best of all, the color is a flaming, deep sunset-orange of the most delectable appearance. No carbon spots present, although a couple of tiny obverse streaks can be seen under a loupe near the rim below Liberty’s chin. Pop 2; 2 finer in 65 (PCGS # 97612) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.

Realized $12,650
