Lot 14

1794 C-2a R2+. PCGS graded EF-45. Attractive glossy chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. Would be choice except for a dull nick on the neck, a shallow spot of reddish verdigris at the F in OF, and a light rim bruise over ES in STATES. Nicely struck E-MDS, Manley state 1.0 late or 2.0 early. There are some faint die clashmarks in the field before the neck but not nearly as many as found on state 2.0. The slab precludes assessing the size of the edge letters, so the more common Small Edge Letters version is assumed. Our grade is VF35.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
