Lot 1

1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Noe-29 Rarity-3. PCGS graded VF-30. Attractive glossy medium gray and steel with lighter silvery gray toning covering the highpoints. Sharply struck with bold date and devices. The obverse is nicely centered while the reverse is slightly misaligned to the top leaving part of ENGLAND off the planchet. The punching error on the D in ENGLAND is obvious. The only defect is a straight-edge clip at the upper edge of the planchet. Struck with the dies in medal alignment, head-to-head. A premium example of the Pine Tree type. Weight shown as 69 grains on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
