1803 C-2 R4 VG7. Sharpness near F12 but there are a couple obvious scratches in the hair and field under the ribbon plus numerous lighter ones inside the wreath. The portrait is a bit rough, probably from debris on the die. ERT in LIBERTY was blunted by die debris as well. The remainder of the planchet is smooth. Attractive glossy light chocolate brown with darker steel toning on the highpoints. Extremely rare late die state (but not the latest), Manley state 5.0 late. A strong cud break connects the tops of TATE to the rim above and a slightly raised retained cud shows over ST. This state is later than Manley 5.0 but earlier than his 6.0. Another very important piece for a serious collector of die states.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
