Lot of over 135 plates, each with hand-colored engravings top and bottom, from Buffon's 44 volume encyclopedia describing everything known about the natural world. These engraving are of animals only; no flora is in this lot. Names are in French. Plates are loose. Included is the frontispiece (ragged around edges) and an engraving of Buffon from the book. Plates are lightly toned, else fine.
