1856 N-12 R1+. MS-62. Upright 5. Lustrous light chocolate and bluish steel brown with traces of mint red remaining on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and offer outstanding eye appeal. The only mark is a faint spot of slightly darker chocolate toning near the dentils left of the date. Sharply struck VEDS (very early die state). The fields on both sides are covered with fine die polishing lines and all the die finishing lines are sharp. The earliest state seen. Tied for CC#9 overall in the Grellman census but equal to the finest known in the earliest die state.
