Lot 70

1817 N-17 R4 F12. Fine-12. Slightly glossy olive and steel brown, the highpoints a few shades lighter than the protected areas. Not perfectly smooth, but the roughness is so fine it requires a strong glass to notice and the eye appeal is decent. No verdigris, and the only mark is a thin nick just right of the nostril extending down to the chin. LDS, but not the latest state, with a heavily sunken retained cud break at the top of TATE. An impressive and very rare die state. DWH #3124.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex J’s Coins (Kalamazoo, Michigan) 2/92-John D. Wright 1/18/06-Bob Grellman & Chris McCawley 4/3/06.
