A. Licinius Nerva, moneyer. AR Denarius minted at Rome, c. 47 BC. Laureate head right of Fides. Reverse: Horseman galloping right, dragging captive. Licinia 24b; Cr. 454/1; Syd. 954b. Rare; nicely toned Extremely Fine.

Instead of commemorating current events, Roman Republican coinage honors the ancestors of the moneyers to show their patrician origins. On this rare type, the nearly 100-year-old victory of Aulus Licinius Nerva in Macedon is recollected.
Estimated Value $400 - 500.
