1861 Type 2 $2½ Liberty. NGC graded MS-63. A nice frosty coin. With the secession of several States from the Union in 1860-61, demand by gold depositors to turn their bullion into coins increased dramatically in 1861 and 1862. This quarter eagle is a nice Civil War period date in choice Mint condition. Pop 45; 55 finer.
