Lot 109

1819 N-2 R1 EF40+. Large Date. EF-40+. Slightly sharper but there are a few small splashes of reddish steel toning on the obverse, and these splashes show traces of extremely fine roughness. No verdigris, and the only contact mark of any consequence is a small scrape on the rim at the right top of the F in OF. LDS. Both dies have been lapped to remove all traces of die rust and the fields are now smooth and slightly reflective. The repunching between the ball and loop of the 9 is gone as well, but the repunching on the 8 and along the bottom of the 9 remains clear. The reverse is rotated 25 degrees CCW. DWH #3131.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
