STS-86, 1997, FLOWN Tomato Seeds. An interesting lot that includes three different packets of tomato seeds. One packet contains seeds FLOWN onboard the flight (weightless conditions), one packet contains a control group of seed kept on earth as a control group (earth gravity) and another packet contains seeds harvested from plants grown at the Scott Carpenter UNDERWATER NASA facility 30 feet below the surface at Key Largo, FL (1.6x gravity). The SEED II program was done to test the effects of different growing conditions on plants. ALSO included with the seed packs are Educator materials to enable teachers to use these seeds as part of a diversified Life Sciences teaching program. These materials are not scarce, but are a great addition to any collection.
