Lot 669

1850 N-17 R4. AU-50. Sharpness very close to mint state but this cent was lightly cleaned and has retoned glossy light olive with faded red in protected areas, mostly on the obverse. There is a small spot of darker toning at the throat, a dull pinprick in the field off the tip of the nose, and a thin nick in the field right of the inner curl. The reverse is choice and lustrous with mint state eye appeal, but the obverse would benefit from a better retoning. Sharply struck EDS, die state a. The obverse displays fine die polishing lines in the fields. Tied for CC#7.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
