Sailor's or Military Chest, c. 1571, Made From One Piece of Bent Wood. The body of the chest is made from one curved piece of wood. Brass bands and brads run vertically across the chest, which is 12 in. high, 21 in. deep and 15 in. across. Inner cover has several carvings, including a date "1571 A.D.," an Indian, some Masonic designs, XIII, and a cross. A name, "Aamon" appears several times. Faintly visible on one side of the cover is what seems to be "York," and on the other side, "Canada." Carvings could have been made at different times. The chest has a wonderful old patina. The key is present and works. What stories this chest could tell!
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

Realized $2,220
