Byzantine Empire. Andronicus III 1328-1341. Billon Tornese (concave fabric, 0.66g) of the "Politikon" series. Constantinople POLITIKON around small nimbate bust of the Virgin facing. Rev. Andronicus, crowned and wearing loros, on l., and St. Demetrius, nimbate, on r., both stg. facing, the emperor's hands uplifted, the saint holding cross on breast.
