Byzantine Empire. John III, Ducas (Vatatzes), 1221-1254. Gold Hyperpyron Nomisma (4.28g), Magnesia. 1232-54. Another, similar to previous, but with dot above arm of Christ's throne to r. DOC 6b.1-2; Hendy pl. 32, 4; Sear-Bendall 2073. Very Fine, edge a little bent, graffiti on both sides.
