Civil War Naval Cutlass. Civil War model 1860 Navy cutlass dated on blade; "1862". On the other side of the blade is marked; "AMES MfG Co., CHICOPEE, MASS". 24½" single edge blade, 30½" overall length. Brass cup hilt is marked; "9 M', "327" and a large "77" on the outside of the cup which is scratched, dinged, and scarred from major action. Blade has been sharpened many times indicating much use.
