[Napoleon] General Turreau de Garambouville - French Minister to the U.S. Third person autograph note signed by General Turreau (1756-1816), French minister to the U.S. from 1804-1811, inviting Senator Mitchell of Pennsylvania to a dinner Jan. 18, 1808. Over the address, Mitchell named some of the attendees: Madison, Gallatin, White, Pickering, etc. and noted, "I talked with him on St. Domingo affairs…." (Santo Domingo rehelled against the French after Napoleon invaded Spain in 1808). General Turreau had fought under Rochambeau in the American Revolution.
