A report written by a Mr. Holt: "The committee, in view of these sufferings and services in the war of the Revolution by one who, at the gallows to which he had been carried by his boundless patriotism, 'regretted that he had but one life to lose for his country,' are of the opinion that they are such as demand the remembrance and should receive the gratitude of the nation…" Printed by Thomas Allen.
