Morse, Samuel F.B (1791-1872) Painter and inventor; best remembered for inventing the telegraph system and (with Alfred Vail) the Morse code. Autograph letter signed ("Saml. F.B. Morse"), 1p, Poughkeepsie, 11 June 1855. To a sculptor named Palmer in Albany, inviting him to visit and offering to show him "a beautiful natural landscape, and some of nature's little statuettes that would be agreeable studies." Matted with a small image of Morse and framed to an overall size of 20 x 12½ in. Fine.
