Victoria (1819-1901) Britain's longest-reigning monarch (1837-1901). Autograph letter signed ("VRI"), 1p, 11¼ x 8½ in., n.p, c.1899. To "darling Alix," Victoria's granddaughter, sending her earnest wish for blessings in 1899. Fine. Matted with an engraving of Victoria and framed to an overall size of 28 x 33¼ in. Victoria's daughter, Alice, died in 1878, and the Queen was very involved in the upbringing of Alice's children. Alix (1872-1918) was Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia, having married Nicholas II in 1894 (the coronation took place in 1896). Alexandra and Nicholas' third child, Maria, was born in 1899. This may have been the event to which Queen Victoria was giving her blessing.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
