Louis XVI (1754-93) King of France during the Revolution; he was guillotined along with his Queen, Marie Antoinette. Manuscript document signed ("Louis"), vellum, in French, 8½ x 17¼ in., Versailles, 3 May 1798. Appointing the Abbé de Lupcourt, who was the Grand Dean of the Cathedral of Nancy, to be the Director of a hospital in Nancy. Fine. Matted with a small engraving and a biographical plaque and framed to an overall size of 15½ x 29½ in.
