George III. Document signed ("George R") as King, vellum, 11¾ x 15½ in., Court of Saint James, 4 April 1795. Appointing Henry Allen Captain of the 36th (or Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot. Fine. George III signed boldly at upper left above his Royal Seal. The document is also signed by Henry Dundas, Secretary for War. In 1768, Dundas had been appointed Secretary of State for the Colonies to deal with the troublesome American colonies. Framed to 17½ x 21½ inches.
