Spiny Trilobite. For protection against predators, one species of Drotops developed rows of sharp spikes all over their top shell and even over their eyes. The commonly found species of Drotops from Erfoud, Morocco does not have these sharp spines. The detail on this 4.5 x 2 inch long black trilobite is quite amazing. It took many hours of detailed work to release each and every tiny spine from their stony matrix. Dozens of spines all over the body, very tiny spines above the eyes and many individual round lenses of the compound eyes are sharp. This large and impressive trilobite is in great demand from collectors and makes for a most impressive display piece in any collection.
