Greece. Hellenistic Gold and Garnet Necklace. Circa late 3rd - early 2nd Centuries B.C. Suspended from a figure eight loop chain are 20 drop-shaped, cabochon garnets, each set in gold pendants. In order to be worn today, the necklace has been adapted to fit a variety of sizes by the addition of a modern chain, in no way harming or distracting from the original design. 9 1/4 in. (23.5cm) long. Weight: 16.5 grams.
