British Officer's Dress Helmet Circa 1881-1901. Beautifully detailed black felt hard helmet representing the South Lancashire Regiment Volunteer Battalion. Gilt QVC helmet plate with gold plume and scroll topped by the Victorian Crown. In center, Egyptian sphinx with "Egypt" escribed underneath. Gold gilt chin chain lined in black velvet. Gilt spike, base and rosettes. Inside of the helmet is quilted silk attached to a 2 in. leather headband. Slight 1 in. separation of lining and headband on left side. Otherwise lining is intact.
