Lot 1064

Italian Miniature Cannon. 14 in. long. Appears to be solid silver. Made by "Sigismondo Corte, Genova, Fornitore alla Real Casa" (Supplier to the Royal House). "Armi Fine" is to each side of a coat of arms. The barrel has "Salve!!! Salve!!! Salve!!!" along the top. Salve was a common greeting in Latin during the time of the Roman Empire, but it is also used in modern Italian. In the middle of the barrell is "Non per palla" (not for ball). The cannon and wooden carriage weigh 14 pounds 2½ ounces and at least 12 pounds of that weight is the cannon.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500.

Realized $1,898
