Lot 54

1804 C-5 R4. EF-40. Spiked Chin. Choice frosty steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning in protected areas. The only mark is a dull, light nick on the cheek. Great eye appeal for the grade. M-LDS, Manley state 5.0 late. The die cracks on the reverse are stronger than on the preceding example and there is a new, very fine die crack slanting down from the dentils to the right side of the left top of the M in AMERICA. This new crack was not mentioned by Manley. The later die crack to the center of that M (state 6.0) has not formed. An interesting die state, apparently quite rare. The Spiked Chin feature is clear. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU58BN (NGC label included, and it mentions the Spiked Chin feature).
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
Ex Gene Braig 10/25/04.

Realized $2,243
