Lot 52

1804 C-4 R5. VF-30. Low 4. Five points sharper but lightly cleaned and superbly retoned a very attractive frosty chocolate and steel brown with medium brown toning in protected areas of the reverse. Has the eye appeal of a higher grade. The only marks are a very faint fingerprint in the field left of the lower curls and a small, shallow planchet flake over the H in HALF. LDS, Manley state 3.0, which he says is rare. In fact, this is the plate coin for that die state in Manley's book. CC#3 for the variety.
Estimated Value $8,000 - 10,000.
Ex Ken Pines-Dr. Wallace Lee, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 5/25/03:164.
