Sale 48

Lot 287

1828 C-2 R1 12-Star Obverse Misaligned Obverse. VF-35. Frosty tan and light steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. No notable defects. EDS, Manley state 1.0. The obverse is obviously misaligned to K-4.5 while the reverse is properly centered on the planchet. One other example has been recorded with the dies similarly misaligned. It was a VG7 example offered in the 2005 EAC Sale. Obviously pieces with the dies misaligned are quite rare, and this example may be the finest known of that small group.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.

Realized $403
