Lot 286

1828 C-2 R1 12-Star Obverse Double Struck. VF-35. Very attractive medium brown and light chocolate with frosty bluish steel brown showing in protected areas. No defects other than some tiny contact marks scattered about both sides, none notable and all consistent with the grade. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. Double struck. Both impressions were properly centered on the planchet but the second was rotated about 5 degrees relative to the first. The doubling is obvious along the profile from the lips to the forehead where the offset approaches a full millimeter. The reverse shows doubling clearest in the dentils at the top.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.

Realized $403
